Welcome to my little corner of the internet dedicated to books. This page is where I share what I’m currently reading, what I’ve loved, and the books that have stayed with me long after the last page.
Each week I’ll feature a ‘Book of the Week’, with my honest thoughts. You’ll find a mixture of fantasy, romance, personal development, motivation, self help, non-fiction and anything that sparks my curiosity.
So, pop on the kettle love, get comfy and lets talk books! šµ
Book of the Week š
Dan Martell – Buy Back Your Time
A motivating January read that focuses on reclaiming your time, setting better boundaries, and building a life that doesnāt revolve around constant busy-ness. Less hustle, more intention, without the fluff. ā Good for: goal setting, feeling stuck, rethinking priorities, building freedom ā Not for: anyone looking for quick productivity hacks or surface-level motivation
This weekās read has been Obsidian, the first book in a two-part series and overall, Iāve enjoyed it⦠just with a few caveats. The story itself is engaging and kept me turning the pages, but I did find the world-building quite minimalist. At times, I felt like I had to fill in a lot of the gaps myself. It took a few chapters before I even had a clear picture of what the female lead character looked like, and there were moments where I had to go back and reread sections to check I hadnāt missed something. That said, despite the confusion at times, I have enjoyed the storyline and Iām planning to read the second book. Itās one of those reads that pulls you along even when youāre slightly unsure whatās happening.
š Would I recommend it? Yes ā especially if you donāt mind doing a bit of imaginative heavy lifting as you read.
š§Currently listening. I find personal development and business books work so well in audio, almost like tuning into a podcast. Iāve always found Codie really inspiring, so Iām excited to properly get into this one. Itās already full of motivating insights and practical ways to think differently about money, work, and opportunity. ā Good for: motivation, mindset shifts, business curiosity, practical tips ā Not for: anyone who isnāt currently interested in self-development or personal growth
Why itās a favourite? Because it hasdragons, a dragon school, a sprinkle of love, and that Harry Potter energy⦠but with dragons and higher stakes š It genuinely surprised me. I hadnāt been properly engrossed in a story for a while, but this one pulled me straight in and didnāt let go. There was something oddly nostalgic about it, comforting, exciting, and easy to sink into. I havenāt read books two and three yet (on purpose). Iām pacing myself because book four isnāt out, and I refuse to emotionally suffer unnecessarily š ā Rating: 4/5 Cosy fantasy vibes, great world building, and dragons. Always dragons.
This series absolutely blindsided me. I went in thinking ādark thrillerā and came out emotionally invested in a serial killer⦠which says everything š Itās very Dexter-ish and somehow you end up rooting for her the whole time. Every victim wronged her in some way, so instead of feeling horrified, youāre like⦠āYep. They deserved it. Carry on, queen.ā Itās fast-paced, addictive, and one of those series where you keep saying just one more chapter until itās suddenly 3am. I hadnāt been that hooked in ages, which is why it earned a permanent spot in my favourites. ā Rating: 4.5/5 š¤ Dark romance šŖ Serial killer energy
A dark, addictive paranormal romance packed with angels, demons, the afterlife, and enough emotional chaos to keep you glued. If you like broody characters, supernatural worlds, and stories that spiral beautifully into obsession, this series delivers. Why it earns a spot in favourites: Dark fantasy + romance combo = elite Massive world-building (the kind you get lost in) Intense relationships, not fluffy nonsense Once you start, youāre in for the long haul ā Rating: 4.5/5
This is a gentle, easy romance that I picked up purely for escapism. Key Ridge is the kind of book you read when you donāt want to think too hard, just relax and enjoy the story unfolding. It was enjoyable, low-effort small town romance, very Hallmark. ā Good for: light romance, comfort reading, cosy vibes ā Not for: those who prefer more layered storytelling or strong independence-focused narratives ā Rating: 3/5
